Israeli Stick Meeting

The Israeli Stick community is quite a new community - started only 2 years ago by Boaz Bar Levy and includes up until now (to my knowledge) four players.

The latest Stick meeting took place on Friday Feb. 20th 2004 at Liran Bar-El's home in Ra'anana (city located 20 minutes north to Tel-Aviv).

Here is each player's info:

1. Boaz Bar Levy
   34 years old
   Plays the Stick for 2 years since march 2002
   Stick #2001 10-string Shedua, classic tuning, Stickup pickup
   Light gauge strings

   Musical background:
   Mainly into classic heavy metal: Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath plus today's top guitar players like Joe Satriani and Mart Friedman. Also plays electric guitar and drums and lately started banjo
   
   On June 2003 took part on STICK SEMINAR in Spanish Stick Center arranged by Guillermo Cides and taught by Guillermo Cides, Ron Baggerman, Jim Lampi and Andre Pelat.

3. Liran Bar-El
   45 years old
   Plays the Stick for 6 months since oct. 2003
   Stick #1627 10-string Rosewood, Baritone Melody tuning, ACTV-2 active pickup

   Musical background:
   Jazz,Folk-rock,60's-70's
   
   Comments:
   We meet once in while and share experiences/ techniques. We all feel inspired by the instrument and the musical possibilities it embodies. We would love to host a Stick performer/instructor on a trip to Israel; such a visit would definitely boost our playing and musicianship, while helping to "spread the gospel" of the Stick.

   37 years old

   Bass player/singer in the band Ra (Russia), graduate from Moscow Academee of Music (classical piano), nowadays working on my projects in my bedroom recording studio in Kfar Saba (Israel). Styles: adult pop, alternative, world, classical
   
   Comments:
   I'm just bananas about the Stick! The meeting was great, I hope our meetings will grow into gigs or even Stick Nights one day and we will see Bob Culbertson and Virna Splendore playing in the heart of Shenkin Street.
