Scandinavian Stick Meeting 2004

Hello everybody!

Now everything is back to normal again after an active weekend full of tapping and geartalk.

The weekend started friday evening around 7.00 pm. when Lennart and I drove down to Nordborg Roklub in Dyvig with all of our gear. The tables were moved and the coffee was brewed, now we just had to wait until the stick-players would arrive.

One hour after Lennart and I arrive Michal Kaiser came with his red van filled with gear. We helped to carry the gear inside and we already talked gear by then. 20 minutes after Michales arrival Kåre and Carl from Copenhagen arrived and we also helped them with their gear. Now we could start the meeting...

Karl had brought his laptop which was filled with weird drum samples and he shined through the sound-scapes with his incredible cool wah-effect on his 10-string Stick. His Stick is just so beautiful. I've never seen such piece of wood. Old but in 100% mint condition...

Kåre brought his new 10-string Stick. A very nice instrument made of very dark Rosewood. Yummi... It's got the new Extended-scale, dual-flaps and the new fret-rails. Besides his new Stick he also brought an old Vox amp, a very nice stick-combo actually. That Vox-amp had a very cool built-in distortion-effect.

Michael, arrived with his gear-inferno...Stick, fretless GL-Bass, Ashbury bass and so on.... He had A LOT inside his red van. Besides all his gear he also brought his new demo from his band "Superhead", pretty cool sound with a lot of evil growls and heavy de-tuned guitar-riffs. Rock on man.....!

Mathias and Peter arrived late saturday afternoon after a trip with very HIGH intensity. I surely hope that the trip back to Copenhagen was a bit more quiet.! Mathiasbrought his vintage-Stick and his home-made aluminium-guitar, a very cool creation. I think he'll be into a lot of adjusting and tapping in near future...

Lennart was very active all weekend. He taught us how to do walking bass-lines, 7-chords and also enjoyed discussing different techniques for the Stick. He brought his new rack with lots of effects, slave-amp and of course our belowed Stick Preamp from Rane. Thanks to Lennart (and Jonna) we all ate ourselves fat saturday evening on spaghetti and the nice home-made meat-sauce. Lennart is as you might imagine the stick "guru" of us all, nice to have one to ask for advice. Keep jamin' mon...!

I was, as always, to find on the sofa, -it was some very exhausting days ;-) I demonstrated my effect-rack and my new Line6 loop-pedal. I don't know how, but something happened with my G-Major, but I think it solved itself later that day. I also brought my 6-stringed fretless Mørch-bass so that the other Stickists could see a real bass! :-) I also took some cd's along with me and some music-dvd's for entertainment in the breaks.

The weather was briiliant and so was the surroundings, it couldn't have been better. I surely hope that all who was attending our meeting got as much input as I did.. Thanks a lot for a cozy Stick Meeting. See you tapping-freaks next year...!

"Don't forget Bob..." -and rock on!

Greetings from Lennart & Peter
