36" scale Stick Bass, Single Group of 8 Strings, Custom Tuning Form

Please fill out the form below, which we will use to set up your instrument, keeping your custom tuning specs on file for future string orders.

Explanations are provided for each parameter in the paragraphs below.

String Identification

Stick strings are identified by their position on the fretboard as seen from the front. String #1 is on the right and #8 is on the left. For your tuning you have chosen a 36" scale Stick Bass (SB8) with one group of strings as shown to the right, numbered 1-8.

String Group Range: Bass or Melody

In the table below, please identify the 8-string group as either a "bass" or a "melody" group. On the Standard bass 4ths tuning it is called a bass group even though the highest notes are in the melody range. If the lowest note of the tuning is higher than the bass's low E string, it would be called a melody group.

String Group Pitch Direction

Next we need to specify which string in the group is highest in pitch and which is lowest. For example, a conventional bass or guitar tuning would be "highest to lowest".

Identifying the Individual String Pitches

Please provide the lettered note name for each string in your tuning. These would be the notes at the first playable fret, called the "X-fret" on our 36"-scale instruments. They would be the same lettered notes an octave higher at the 3rd inlay marker mid way up the fretboard.

Choosing an Overall Gauge for the String Group

To specify the gauge set for each string group, please select "light, medium or heavy".
