Etude with Attitude

by Ron Baggerman

I start with a simple bass part and then it grows into a more complex, fuller, better sounding one.

Example 1.
This first simple arrangement is in series. By in series I mean that the left hand plays a whole note (holds it down) and the right hand follows with quarter notes.

Example 2.
Now the etude becomes more parallel. By parallel I mean that when the right hands plays a (quarter) note, the left hand plays a (quarter) note at the same time.

Example 3.
In this last arrangement, the left hands plays eights, while the right hands plays fourths. So on every note of the right hand, the left hand plays 2 notes.
