Our 8-string stereo multi-mode instrument is a
collaboration between Emmett Chapman (creator of the Stick) and Ned
Steinberger (creator of the NS Double Bass, Bass Cello and many other
instruments). Designed for optimized two-handed tapping, and conventional
guitar and bass techniques, this instrument incorporates a number of ideas from both
The Stick (Rails®, tapping frets) and the Steinberger bass (knee
rest and headless design), as well as some completely new ideas, like a patented retractable damper, and unique side-saddle bridge and nut height adjustment screws.
The bolt-on neck is laminated bamboo or wenge, with our distinctive Stick rear bevel. The body is a choice of beautiful hardwoods with a "soft finish" so the player can really feel the wood, or an optional high gloss clear coat. Choose from natural wood colors or several penetrating dyes and stains. Additional charges for the dyes and clear coat apply.
Active EMG pickups
Four active EMG pickups, 2 for each set of 4 strings, can be routed in stereo or mono, and have active bass treble and volume controls.
